Changes to off-payroll working from April 2020

The rules for individuals providing services to the public sector via an intermediary such as a Personal Service Company (PSC), changed from April 2017. The new rules shifted the responsibility for deciding whether the intermediaries’ legislation applied, known as IR35, from the intermediary to the public sector receiving the service (also known as the engager). Changes in the Principal Private Residence (PPR) Relief from April 2020.

When you sell or dispose of your own home including garden or grounds within the permitted area (in the UK or Abroad) you won't have to pay any Capital Gains Tax (CGT) if the property has been your only or main residence throughout the period of ownership. To protect gains made by individual in certain circumstances, there are several ancillary reliefs that extend the benefit of PPR beyond those who are occupying their main residence.
